Named after the literally unplayable digital music phenomenon of cascading, inhumanly sequenced piano notes, Black Midi have quickly become the new UK guitar band at the tip of everyones’ tongues. Fresh out of the vaunted BRIT School, the trio of Geordie Greep, Morgan Simpson, and Cameron Picton are driven by the spirit of improvisation, with Greep’s idiosyncratic voice flung across a canvas of math-rock, jazz, and noise. Building off the power of their relentless, energetic live shows, Black Midi signed to Rough Trade, who released their debut album, Schlagenheim, in summer 2019.
