Slowthai Charged With Rape in England

Slowthai has been charged with two counts of raping a woman, orally and vaginally, in Oxford, England, in 2021, The Guardian reports. The rapper, born Tyron Kaymone Frampton, appeared in court via video link this morning (May 16) to confirm his name, date of birth, and address in the county of Northampton. He was released on bail ahead of a scheduled appearance at a crown court, which deals with more serious offenses, next month on June 16.

On social media, Slowthai wrote:

regarding the allegations being reported about me. i categorically deny the charges. i am innocent and i am confident my name will be cleared. until then i will apply my energy to ensure this is concluded swiftly and justly. i ask that my supporters don’t comment about this situation and respect the process and privacy of my family during this time.

Pitchfork has emailed Slowthai’s representatives for comment. The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the charges and court appearance.
